About the club

SMU Climb Team was established in September 2005. It was established with the aim of sharing our passion for climbing with the rest of the community through the sharing of experiences and the impartation of new skills. In the process, we aspire to develop as a team and to challenge ourselves as we embark on a journey of self-discovery and adventure together.

TREASURER!

TREASURER: DAPHNE! :)
7 things I love about being the Treasurer!

  1. What are the 5 things you need to love to do if you are the Treasurer:
· The Love of … Feeling rich (by holding a lot of money which doesn’t belong to you)

· The Love of … Bugging people. If verbal bugging doesn’t work, try scratching, punching and kicking. Resullts have been positive. :D

· The Love of … Paying the Office of Finance every now and then

· The Love of … Being ethical. Resist the urge to siphon funds! ARGHHH!

· The Love of … Not having to display creativity. Creative accounting is.. dubious. HAHA.

  1. How many hours a week do you have to commit to the um.. Treasury (..?):
· Average of 2 to 3 hours per week

  1. What is the one thing that you hate most about being the Treasurer: That people avoid paying! ):

  1. Job Scope!
· I budget for our expenditure each semester, so you get to enjoy Ben’s awesome company, free competitions, new club shoes, yummy BBQs, the free monthly Climb Asia entrance … and much more!

· And then I have to field queries from SSU on why we’re budgeting for seemingly unnecessary things like trolleys and drill bits, because sometimes, they just don’t get it.

· I hound you guys for money – for membership fees, club tees and your frequent Climb Asia trips we can’t afford to cover – so we maintain a healthy financial status :D

· I bug the participants of our Sport Climbing Level 1 and 2 Courses for payments so that our instructors’ efforts don’t go to waste.

· And I hold the receipt book to record these payments.

· I also help you to deposit any revenue earned and submit your claims so that Ben gets paid and you get your money back from the school, keeping everyone but Office of Finance happy. (:

· I inform the rest of the committee of the budget they’re restricted to for marketing, purchase of assets, organising of events such as AGM, gatherings, etc.

· At the end of the semester, I prepare the club’s Statement of Accounts for submission to SSU and SMUSA.

  1. 3 things you gained out of being the Treasurer:
· Being more meticulous than ever

· Budgeting experience

· Extremely familiar with claims procedures in SMU, hahaha.

  1. I work most with, ......... (things, people........)
· The SSU and SMUSA finance guys

· Money! *kaching*

· The SMU Climb Team exco

· And basically everyone in SMU Climb Team. If you’re one of us, I’m sure you have found yourself the victim of my incessant naggings to pay your funds at some point in time.

  1. I am.....(insert lame things about yourself :) )
· Proud member of the SMU Climb Team

· Frequently bullied

· Apparently, the team’s house-elf

· Loved by the team – At least, I would like to think so, hahaha!
